No-Shave-November!

Well ladies and gentlemen! you are looking at the newest finalist of NO SHAVE NOVEMBER.......well, almost. you see there was a thing with my family, and the beard was awful scratchy after 20 some odd days, so...... What....you want an update on my life? Well since you asked nicely.....(yeah yeah, so you didn't ask. or maybe you did. any way you chose, I'm gonna tell ya.) So I;m once again on the single side of the fence.....yes, we have cookies....that we can eat ourselves.....and not have to share.....it is nice. College this semester is winding down, and I have managed to survive thus far. # 1 survival tip: Procrastination = doom. 'nuff said. Alrighty, well, gotta run. Bye!

What, think I'd leave with out a poem?
I would, but that is beside the point (or in front of it. i have trouble with gramma). I have enough of an ego to leave you some of my wonderful (horrendous) poetry pieces.

A song to sing,
from the soul to soul
Words flying from the reaches of
the mist.
Where do they go,
when the dove is on
a fluttering breath?

(P.S. Did ya notice that there is at least one post for the consecutive months of July, August, September, October, November? Yes, that my friends is talent. Since it reveals my first name anyways....)

Welcome to October. You have now stooped to my level.

So how is life? well, for me its pretty good. Im adjusting to the "unknown" (yeah. involves a lot of paperwork, learning, a test of both kinds ((medical, written, and oral)), as well as some new things to get comfortable with). Learning a lot of things about people. Interesting how freeing it is to be "independent" (MOMMMMM!!!! COULD YOU SEND ME _______) Well, in celebration of one of my FAVORITE not-so-holidays, here is a poem! I know ,just what you wanted (GIMME MY CANDY YOU CHEATER!!!!)

Whispering in still and silence
Haunting all across the land
When dark sky has bitten moon.
My lady walks again this darkest noon.

Silently the ghosts surrounding,
In the hazy midnight mist.
My lady walks right beside me
Tinkling footsteps across the sand.

My lady walks oh near beside me
Nearer now than ever been
Whispering my name in darkness
Falling echo in ocean’s foam

My lady who had departed
Into a forgotten land
Tended by this man so caring
Dew drop slips from petal to sand.

My lady walks in still and silence
Ghosting still across the land
Reaching out to softly touch me
Disappears into the sand

The ghostly touch reminds me
A soft touch of her hand
Of a time not so long ago
When she had walked this land.

Thundershaking

Well, i will day what a say.....er.....say, what a day. Its just a bit o rain, a bit o clouds (by default) and a bit o laundry....yes, i do my own laundry. Its manly. I iron some of it too. And I can cook. (canned soup, frozen waffles, omelets, quiasadeias) So I have all of the requirements to live on my own! Isn't that the best? I think so....anywho, sidetracking aside. Here's the part you have all been waiting for!!!

Wait for it.....

Wait for it.....

Ok! NOW!

Hammer, Hammer,
Thundershaker,
drop golds webs
from kingdom sky through
earthly tears.
Silence blast
by sun's last path
through sunset forge.
reflected in a child eye,
behind diamonds running down
home glass.
Hammer, Hammer
Thundershaker,
rule the autumn sky.

Autumn

Back again, back again. Well heya! Me some more. I'm at the University of Maine now, and life is going well. Ive been a part of some major accomplishments this fall semester. Ive discovered a new sleep disorder, called Collegetis, Ive invented a new food group, called baco-junkies, and I have a new fish named magma. I can feed him magma bites BASK IN MY POWER!!! (yupp, ego is still intact!)

Ok, so here is my tribute to autumn memories

Darkness falling,
Stars are calling
Ask to hear which is
the way moons fall.
As summer sun turns
for waves of gold and
silver dusky sky.
Voices of spirits past
have touched the souls
and met with clasps
of friends old and new.
Whispered wind
wafting wood smoke
through limbs speaking
silent pine.
Remember days with motes of light
Playing through warm summer sky.

Shadow lake.

Well, no words of wisdom this day, just came off of a wonderful break! lets hear it for stretching!!! (insert random noises of approval here :D )

here is why im really writing today (wahtt, you mean telling us what you have been doing is not enough????)

A poem i want to share, inspired by Rangely, Maine, and meh own
sparkly self (not a vampire, thank goodness)

Lonely eyes stare at the stars
Of a warm summer night.

Wishing for a star to fall
Just seeking the company of the light.
Wind sings to the trees
A soft humming, a crying loon.

Reflections glimmer on a lake
Of dreams and sliver moon.
Touch the cool water
Send ripples through the false
Friend of mirrored sky.

Do not have fear
Its not your shadow that can die.
Only weep where love has been
Do not tear away from now, for then.

Lonely eyes stare at the stars
Of a warm summer night.
Can you see through
days failing light?

Time.

Im still here. phew! so while i was out creating mayhem with random alien hitchhikers who didnt smell bad, and actually paid for some of the fuel cells the "borrowed" space assault vehicle needed, i came up with a wise little activity, that is just good for your soul. here it is:
take an hour, and grab a lunch, and 5 dollars. take one of those dollars, and give it to a random person. take another dollar, and bury it, imagining that it is some of the pain you feel. take two dollars, and buy your favorite candy or snack food, and take the last dollar write 5 things you enjoy, then put it in your wallet.

If you try this, i will give you the reasoning and meaning behind what each usage of the dollar means. Just shoot me an e-mail. oh, and please try to stay honest.

wisdom:
When mortal hero
becomes by curse or reward
immortal.
Where does the heart go?
For to have a heart is to allow yourself
to be vulnerable.
our greatest strength.
Also the timeless one's weakness.
A kindness.
A truth.

O.k, so i know that ive been going through serious posts.........

O.k. yes. i have been posting a lot of things that have less humor, and more of a serious message. Well, I like it that way, its where i am right now. Plus, i like to connect to people, put myself, and who I am out there. (yupp, so decide that you absolutely don't want to know me right now :P. trust me, ive been in here for 18 years, and im not too sure about the sanity of this person. Take the less of two evils, like maybe chopping that onion for dinner. Why an onion? Hey, you try chopping 5 or 6 onions, saute' them with garlic and mini chicken drumsticks, and have with various sauces. delicious, but trust me, you cant get through that with out shedding a tear. those onions and garlic put out some hefty fumes!) So here is the wisdom for today, actually not original, but couldn't have put them better myself. From 1001 Things Every Teen Should Know Before They Leave Home (Or Else They Will Come Back) by Harry H. Harrison Jr,
Number 515: "They should know that, curiously, people need to hear the words "I love you" a lot...."
Number 516: "They should know that fear poisons [a relationship]. And people get afraid when they feel powerless"
Number 522: "They should know that trust is one of those curious things that, when lost, is hard to find again"
Number 525 "They should know we all need someone to miss us"
Number 540: "They should know that if people don't find emotional intimacy, in a relationship, they may look for it elsewhere"
And finally, (yes i know, long list) Number 544: "They should know that after the "bloom" wears off, love is a decision"

Ok, well that's the wisdom.
If you are reading this now, know that the poem will be up before this day is done, but it is too hot for me to sit still right now, so Im gonna be back later.(haha, done now, what did I say! so its a day late, i have that freee, free fallin-dom still)
If you are not reading this now, i ask "are you literate?" "why are you here" and "congrats, this, along with everything else, is just a figment of your imagination. Pretend this is a question"

When the sun sets in the west,
tranquil east,
is just a memory in the sky.
Can you reach through the starry cloak of night,
to find the burning sunrise?
Where do you sit to watch the moon
journey through the beyond?
Keep that silver promise,
gentle rays of hope,
love is alive.

Wild Moon.

Wait a moment. Sit still. open a window and listen to the whistling wind,
the flavor of the wilderness creating a pause for you.
Take this moment,
realize this opportunity.

So thats yer share of wisdom fer the day. Now time for a poem.
(yah, yah, but Im too tired to do a lot of wisdom, and im looking more forward to writing this poem. you wanna do differently? ok then, go ahead :D )

Wild moon,
shine on the spirits,
to guide the night.
Wise one, silent, swift.
Cunning, in a flash of fire.
Watch over the wild moon.

Sing lone one,
swift star running through the pine.
guard the night brook,
intuition is your guide.
Speak to the wild moon.

Here Comes The Sun, Do da do dooo.

Well, it is raining on this summer day, pretty heavily as I sit down on my porch to write this. What a museful food! err.....I mean mood. (no you don't you are snacking.) (Quiet you.) Keeping with the recent values theme that I have been having this week, I have decided by the dint of my shield (figurative people... figurative) that I shall talk about an uncommon trait (at least to meeee) to find in people these days. What is this magical, rare, exciting, interesting, multi-adjective trait? Well, ill talk about that in a few. First of all, i need a hair cut. badly. several cut actually. Also, all day NCIS marathons are where it is at! and cable t.v. is a great invention, but people, when the power goes out, you can never quite replace having a card game by candle light. (not that i can do that any more. ill be out in the rain where the tree fell on the power lines, that caused your power to be out. I know, heroic of me, but heck, its meh job!) Any who, back to that trait. Its Empathy (yes yes, i know I stalled, but heck, ive gotta keep interest if im gonna be talking about these things. My ego (interestingly enough, ego means ! or self in latin) can only go so far as entertainment value.) Empathy is having a part of yourself, that no matter what you are feeling, can put yourself in someone else's place, and can decide to act based on that. Believe it or not, its a really hard thing to do, and when you get in the practice of doing so, it can be a really annoying thing. You don't always want to make decisions because you understand why someone is acting a certain way. Well, it is worth it though, when you want to know why some one is acting the way they are, and then act to make that person happy. Yoda say, happy you are if others are happy!
Ok, the poem.

Rain tumbling off the roof.
Flashes of light,
Booming sound.
Sitting typing,
By the light of the screen,
and the orange glow of
a nearby lamp.

Old fashoned country (3.14159)

How-die Do! wait for it.....wait for it........Ding! ok there, i can start (yeahhh, i know. i WISH i was that cool.....) well, a lotta thoughts spinning through mah head tonight. random pieces of wisdom (yeah yea, my ego is the size of manhattan during a traffic jam and a snow storm, but hey, personal self-esteem boosting is part of the deal), stories I could tell, the purpose of this blog, life, and everything. So despite all of that, I have decided to talk about those evenings (GET ON with it already!). Those evenings when you wanna ride, you wanna be a part of those people who live for their freedom, earn every penny, and enjoy life for what it is. Get away from everything. Just sail into the sunset, beholden to none except the earth, your religion (i will say right now, that as an honest man, I believe that all paths lead to god), your family, and your stomach. Don't let life stop you from doing that. Sail away for the evening, take a breather, go on a wacky wild adventure. Invent something. Every second you sit here reading this is another chance gone to ground. Yeah yeah, old wisdom, but to put it in my wacky way, GET ER DONE! (old wisdom is better than no wisdom after all!) so about the poem.
Well, here it is.

A minute on stage,
singing,
dancing,
lights, sounds, friends laughing.
What more is life than a stage,
with a few trapdoors.
Laugh as you fall on the mat
below the stage.

Wisdom wizbang extrodinare!

Ah, me again. i know, dang. well, sorry, but since charlie the Muppet wasn't available, well, you have MEEEEEEEEE! so here is some wiseness (either in the sarcastic, or the real sense of the word.) for yousa! Now, im the kind of guy who (i like to think) gives you respect, courtesy, and a little trust right off the bat, unless you have done something that, well, doesn't jive with that. characteristics that I value the most are plain and simple, honesty, along with integrity. No man can call himself such, with out those in my eyes. If you are honest, and speak your heart and mind, than so many doors will be opened for you, in love, in your friends and family, and in life. If you are a man of your word, than you are worthy of the respect, and honor that that simple trust is worth. You are free to count on someone who has both of these unreservedly, because they have proven themselves to be of a higher caliber, a genuinely good soul. Now honesty is difficult, because it means that you tell your opinions, and your heart, to those who may not want to hear, or acknowledge what you say. Integrity is hard, because no matter who you are, you can't keep every promise you make. But do me a favor. try.

Ok, enough wisdom, gimme a poem. you beat that point until it was dead, rotting, and even stinking a little. plus, it sounded a bit too guru-ish, as well as over blown. I mean, we KNOW all of that already for uncle Steward's grandma's uncle's niece's sake!

Slumber Soul,
beneath the autumn moon
hear the sounds of
rustling corn stalks,
the lone wolf's cry.
Awaken,
only in the summers,
love,
of August breeze.
Keep warmth close,
and your joy closer,
to the pocket watch
of beautiful days.

Some thoughts

Well, as you all know, the champ is here, and writing strong. (dont worry, i was talking about the BRAND NEW EGO WORLD CHAMPION HERE!!!! give me some props, ohhh yeahhhh!) So some thoughts that i have had rattling about in the avalanche of my mind. (interesting place, nice in the fall, but gets a little picky during the summer. Good hotels too, but man, the traffic is sooo slow!)

What do you call the moon,
but the shadow of the sun,
hiding its tears,
in the stars of the world.

anddd:

I have the world in my eyes,
and the sun, moon, and rain
in my heart.
I am an old soul.
but can you feel,
that not a
day
passes the horizon of these
stones,
that I cannot,
forget
your name.
Oh this curse
of memory
in the blood
of the earth.

Time passes

Well, its been a while. hope that the summer is going well. wow, how time affects the wind, the rain, and our daily lives. Remember that
a tear is nothing more,
than a mark.
that you have been touched,
by that god,
time.
Have to say, that the heart has taken a beating. moving to a new school, a new way of life. remembering the past years in my hometown, and wondering how the new will go. Remembering the place, the time, of a major traumatic event of my life, and wishing that my dad could see me now. Plus the girl broke up with me, so immmmaaaaa in a n interesting place right now. course, thank goodness that there are similar stories all over. look into anyones lives, and i guarantee that you will find something cool, shocking, amazing, interesting, scary, or just abnormal. Its those things, that we can find a person in, and not another way. So if your wondering what the summer between high school, and college feels like, it is the best mix of awesome, and a whirlwind of emotions you can find. I went on a fishing trip. discovered a love of country music. remembered my patriotism, and most of all, enjoyed fireworks on a beach, the love of my friends and family, and a discovery of a me that i didn't know existed.

Here is a poem for ya all. (AHA you knew the parenthasee-thingies were coming! I know, yalll, country. i like it, so nayyyyyyh : p )

So waste your summers quietly,
sitting in the Sumner's Lee,
simmering in the silence of the storm.
Welcome to the hum-a-nee,
feel like keeping company,
don't waste the cool solstice rain.
Bring your tune to harmony,
though you have abandoned me,
keep the noise passing me,
on the sidewalk of Al-Kac-Ka-See,
so take a part of me,
and sit quietly,
live in the memory,
and enjoy the coming rainbow sun.

Devil dogs and coffee

I like coffee. It's one of the 16 main foodgroups (Notice: this statement has not been evaulated by the FDA, the national health organization, the AHA, the ADA, or the EPA). But with coffee, you need to have something to eat. How about a biscotti, a chocolate chip cookie, or some coffee cake? Nope. Try devil dogs. Try those oatmeal rasin cookies. Try those orange slices. Try that booger flavored Bertie botts every flavored bean. (don't really try that last one. Take it from me, not pleasant). So the thought of the day? Try. Because if you try hard enough, you really can connect devil dogs with coffee, to a moral lesson.

Thought you would escape without a poem????? Hey, you just got the coffe corner and the emergency parts. Consider yourself lucky!
Night time approaches,
the warm sun sets as the
neighborhood streets empty.
A lazy car drifts down the road,
enjoy those summer sunday evenings.
As you lazily sip soda
on your front porch.

Its the most, busiest time, of the year!

Well well well. Rule number 1. Cardio.....Rule number 2....Double tap....opps, wrong set of rules. Rule number 1. Never believe teachers when they say "oh, i don't give a final exam for this class" They don't mean it. They give final projects instead. I know, i know, im WHINING....but don't you worry, that's just the culmination and the joy of this point in time. Ok, back to the scheduled program thingie (never knew this was a program, did you.....well, it isn't, so you are doubly wrong for thinking, just for a moment that this was, thereby switching form your correct, first impression. if you never had that thought....than why didn't you?) So whats this thought provoking wisdom you have to share today? Rutabagas. go off of that. love them. eat them. they are pinkish red i think...and thinking is the point! Gotta go!

Today.....I bought a Coconut.

Do you know, that if you walk around holding a coconut, you have THE perfect tool at your disposal, for someone you don't like, be creative, give it to someone you like, eat it, make horse hoof noise makers (Monty Python...helloooooo!) Use it as an excuse for bringing your freshman brother to a Senior only high school theatre rehearsal....the list is endless. And, as a bonus. people laugh (with) at you.

Thought for the day:
Cheep,
The source of fun'
Oh, how perfect orb,
Teach me your tropical ways...

An Impossible Dodgeball

Well, there are some of you out there, who look at that title, and probably say..."hunh?" Then there are those that go "Awesome, tell me more!" Then there is the half mixtures, the in betweens, the no-cares, ect...ect. My bold, new, thought from yesterday, is that you can make a dodge ball impossible to dodge with a few ingredients. First, you need a room. Preferably bowling alley shaped. Then, you need a big rubber playground ball, that is just under the size of the room. Roll the ball down the length of the room, and enjoy the pin-like actions of your opponents. So there is the thought, here is the wisdom. (never said the two were combined )
Bright red sphere,
Traveling.
Its journey almost done.
Million miles in a second,
Prepare.
Strike.
Out.

V-a-c-a-t-i-o-n

Well. Well Well Well. (look Nelly, the boy is stuck in the well) Ever had one of THOSE vacations? The one where there is a mixture of good things, bad things, and then crazy good and very very crazy bad things. not to mention the strange things? Yeah. Story of this week in a bit of a cracker shell (i get tiredddddd of saying nutshell.)

So, my ode to vacation:
V ery much fun
A bsolutely a pain in the applebottom
C razy
A bsolutely a joy
T ime consuming

30 hours a day

Ok, so keeping with the format (whatttt? you mean there is ORGANIZATION to this madness?????) I think ill start with a thought, and end with a piece of inspiration (i never said i was humble you know......) How do you define a day? Is it from when you wake up, to when you sleep? Is it from 12:01 AM to 11:59 PM? Or do you measure it from the sunrise to sunset? Think on this...and then think if your perspective on the day, can influence how tired you feel. Ok, enough wisdom (SOOO humble I am) here is the inspiration:
Sue me?

Words cross the pages
Thoughts written in black and white
Do not sue me please

A Poem and a Thought

What better way to start off a blog than with a poem? (Remember, goal is getting thoughts provoked......and provoked can be the right word sometimes) Thoughts are good too. Like if the moon were made out of cheese, would it be Bleau cheese, Cheddar, American? oh alright....here is the poem:
Its called Crackers on a Rainy Day:

Breath-less feelings,
curling through the smoke,
cast by foggy damp.
Waiting,
Holding.
Expecting bright beams,
Like a cut in the cloud.
So tears of rain trickle past,
the sun.
A homefire,
keeping the hearth warm.
Waiting to come back,
to the warm embrace
of crackers
on a rainy day.

Welcome

Welcome to this culmination of poems, stories, daily life, and other random and slightly unrelated arguments, topics, and general information that I feel are necessary (yes, my absolute power as master/ slave driver, and overseer)to provide, or to discuss. Comments are always welcome, just please don't cross any toes (or lines). A little about myself? Ehh, I'm just a regular, middle class American, who has opinions like any other. I work as an EMT (yes, an ambulance guy) and as a firefighter (again, yes, big shiny red truck) and as a waiter (don't ask where, please!) I enjoy (parentheses), reading, walking, woodworking, growing plants, thinking, joking, ect...ect. Congratulations for reading this far, sit back, and enjoy the average (or more, or less) postings. Thanks!
